Apple Cheeks Microfiber Inserts

Posted on

We have the Apple Cheeks Microfiber Inserts. What makes these Apple Cheeks inserts so great? Unlike many of the microfiber inserts that come with pocket diapers, the Apple Cheeks ones feature a layer of fleece on one side. This allows you to use the insert as part of a two piece diapering system, where you re-use your outer shell or cover. So for example, you can use an Apple Cheeks envelope cover, and then lay the microfiber insert on top, fleece side up. This will allow you to re-use the Apple Cheeks cover multiple times. You can also use these inserts in any cloth diaper cover of your choice! The Apple Cheeks microfiber stay dry inserts are one size, and affordable on top of that.   Apple Cheeks microfiber inserts, Apple Cheeks inserts, Apple Cheeks Canada

Apple Cheeks Cloth Diapers are here!

Posted on

There's a new kid in town at New & Green, and it goes by the name AppleCheeks. You may have heard of AppleCheeks...they are a Canadian brand, manufactured right here in this country. And they appeared on Dragon's Den a little while ago! And yes, in case you're wondering, they did score a deal with the dragons! The AppleCheeks system is a nifty little cloth diaper, as it offers envelope covers in sizes 1 and 2. AppleCheeks Size 1 covers fit babies up to 20lbs, whereas AppleCheeks Size 2 covers fit babies from 20-40lbs. You can select your insert to go with the diapers. The one-size inserts are available in 2 ply bamboo, 3 ply bamboo or stay-dry microterry. What's particularly cool about this cloth diaper is that you can use it as a pocket diaper by stuffing the insert into the pocket OR you can use it as an all in two system where you reuse the cover multiple times and just change out the insert that you lay right on top of the cover. This makes for more affordable diapering because you don't need a separate cover for every diaper change. If you are keen on a 2 piece system, we recommend a ratio of 2-3 inserts per cover. Available in a wide range of colors, one thing is for sure: these diapers are cute and have personality.   Apple Cheeks, Apple Cheeks cloth diapers, Apple Cheeks covers, Apple Cheeks Canada

Stripping Cloth Diapers - How to Do it!

Posted on

If you read our previous blog post, you'll have a pretty good sense of whether you have build up in your cloth diapers. Now, it's time to get it out! There are a few products on the market that work really well at restoring your cloth diapers to a place of great function once again. (1) RLR. OK, so maybe the packaging is old school. But the very fact this product doesn't need to update its packaging and it still sells like hot cakes is a very good sign that what's inside is pretty amazing. RLR works super well for stripping down your diapers, particularly mineral deposits as well as detergent which can happen in areas with hard water. Use 1/2 pack of RLR for a front loading machine and a full pack for a top loading machine. Put the RLR into the machine with your cloth diapers during the hot cycle with detergent (both can go in together) and then rinse like crazy until you see no more bubbles. We usually estimate 3-5 hot rinses, but some folks will need more.   (2) GroVia Mighty Bubbles GroVia Mighty Bubbles is relatively new to the market but it works great! One thing that is neat about it is the fact that not only is it great at getting at mineral deposits, it's also really quite good at busting ammonia in your diapers. Unlike the RLR which you can toss in with detergent, GroVia finds that Mighty Bubbles tends to work best on CLEAN diapers. So for the best stripping results, use the GroVia Mighty Bubbles on a set of clean diapers. You won't need as many rinses as with the RLR as supposedly just one hot rinse after will have your diapers in great shape again. (3) Rockin' Green Funk Rock Ammonia Bouncer Ammonia be gone with the Funk Rock Ammonia Bouncer. The most common way that folks use Funk Rock is part of their regular wash routine. They put some Funk Rock in every pre-wash cycle as a maintenance strategy to ward off the stinkies.     Wondering what our favorites are at New & Green? We love RLR and GroVia Mighty Bubbles, so recommend trying out those two first. However, as with everything in the cloth diapering world, it all comes down to personal preference and user experience...go with that works for you and your cloth diapers!

shockedbabyWe often get questions about stripping cloth diapers. When should you do it? How do you know if you need to strip your diapers? These are all great questions. Let's de-mystify the art of stripping cloth diapers for you. In this post, we're going to talk about how you can determine whether you have build up in you diapers. In the next post, we will address how to strip your diapers to get them in tip top shape. How do I know if I have build up in my diapers? (1) You may notice over time that your diapers are not performing as well as they once did. Most notably, you may find that they are leaking, or that you have to change your baby much more quickly. This may be a sign of build up in your diapers. For example, over time not all the detergent may get rinsed from your cloth diapers. Over time, as more and more detergent builds up in the fibers, it interferes with the ability of the material to absorb. Then your cloth diapers can leak. Not good! No no, no one wants a leaking diaper! (2) You may find your diapers stink. They just might not smell as fresh as they once did. There can be different kinds of build up in the diapers. When you deal with detergent build up, your diapers just might not smell fresh when they come out of the wash. If you are dealing with ammonia build up, you will notice a strong smell after baby pees. It will almost make your eyes want to water!  Both are types of build up, and both need to be lifted from the cloth diapers. If you are noticing either of these issues, it might be time to give your diapers a good stripping! Read our next post on how to strip your diapers to learn what to do to get your cloth diapers back in tip top shape!

The Best Bottom Diapering System has arrived at New & Green and we are pretty stoked. What is so great about it? The one-size diaper cover features leg gussets (messes stay put!) and comes in an adorable range of color and print options. Then, you can select the diaper absorbency between microfiber topped with stay dry fleece, or hemp. All of the Best Bottom cloth diaper inserts come sized in small, medium and large. What does that mean? A trim fit, every step of the way. Instead of the excess bulk that can happen with one-size inserts when your baby is small, the Best Bottom cloth diaper system gets around that by customizing insert fit as baby grows.

All In Two Cloth Diapers are affordable as they allow you to re-use your cloth diaper cover multiple times and simply change out the absorbency portion. The Best Bottom covers include snap heads so that you can easily snap your inserts into the cover. This insures that they stay-put, offering a great fit on your little one. Best Bottom diapers are made in the USA.   Best Bottom Diapers, Cloth Diapers, All In Two Diapers
